Wine tasting tables blend form and function, while remaining versatile pieces.
A favored purchase of my youngest daughter for her home was a reproduction French wine tasting table. It’s small in size, but big in character – raw, aged oak with hand joinery. She’s currently using it as a living room side table, but it would also function nicely as a bedside table. A larger, dark antique version [top] grounds this all white kitchen. Wine tasting tables were original found and used in wine cellars throughout Italy and France. They have tilt tops, an age old form that offered easy transportation to the vineyard for lunch or a way to tuck the table against the wall in a small wine cave.
Another antique table is paired with two Belgian arm chairs in this year round, Swedish inspired conservatory.
Reproductions can be purchased online at Whit McLeod, August Haven and Mecox Gardens. Local antique stores, 1st dibs and Ruby Lane often have vintage wine tasting tables in their inventory.
