All About Atticmag
Atticmag is an online magazine of home décor and home cooking. Founded by Jane Freiman, a New York based newspaper and magazine editor and cookbook author, the blog focuses on home décor, kitchens, bathrooms, and Jane’s home cooking.
The concept for Atticmag took shape during the renovation of Jane’s house when she began searching for information about kitchens, baths, flooring, paint and hardware sources. Within a few months she assembled an online look book of kitchen and bathroom inspiration photos which received more than 1.3 million online views. When her house construction finished, Jane enrolled at Parsons School of Design in New York City and earned an interior design certificate. Along with searching for furniture, she began to plan Atticmag as an online prototype for her own home décor and collecting magazine.
Before launching Atticmag, Jane worked as a Managing Editor at the New York Daily News, overseeing the features and celebrity news in the nation’s largest daily tabloid. She was a contributing editor at New York magazine fox six years, the restaurant critic for New York Newsday, and a syndicated food columnist at the Chicago Tribune. The winner of a James Beard award for her cookbook “Dinner Party,” Jane she holds a certificate in Culinary Arts from Luberon College in Avignon, France. She was a longtime student of James Beard and the author of four cookbooks including a best seller “The Art of Food Processor Cooking.” Earlier in her career, she worked in art galleries in New York and Paris. Jane is a native Californian whose parents owned a drapery and upholstery factory in Los Angeles. No surprise that Atticmag focuses on kitchens, cooking and home décor.

Allison Arnett’s fondness for furniture and accessories began as a child in her family’s furniture store. Allison loves to frequent antique shops and locally owned home stores in Alabama, where she and her husband own and manage a commercial real estate business. Her love of homes and her great eye for design has made Allison’s posts so valuable to Atticmag. Now, Allison has retired to spend her time running the family business and tending to her grandchildren.

Founder emeritus Jane Tulanian is a third generation rug restorer who runs Tulanian Rugs, a family business in Northern California. Jane T worked with Jane F. to create Atticmag, contributing her knowledge of Oriental rugs as well as her interest in home design and collecting from the very first days. She is currently focusing on her primary business and remains a valued friend and colleague.
