Bedroom Blues

The right geometric prints on wallpaper and fabric can act as modernizers in blue and white bedrooms.

Those of us who are lovers of blue-and-white ceramics take the combination for granted. After all, it has been around forever and is such a classic choice. But when blue and white bedrooms are done in just the right way, it’s amazing how fresh this duo looks. A bold blue and white geometric wallpaper sets up a mid-century vibe for this bedroom, which is reinforced by the Danish modern “Le Klint” style pendant lighting. The large-scale hipster toile on the bed frame is super cool but most any big print can have the same effect and coordinate with accent pillows on the bed.  Don’t overlook the power of pillows to help create a mood.

This American pieced quilt adds such a vibrant pattern plus high contrast to an alcove bed. So inviting!   Classic blue-embroidered hotel sheeting adds even more elegance to this guest bed. While the nook is snowy, check out the cobalt used as the dramatic wall color in the rest of the room (you can just see it around the edges of the photo), which functions like a frame for the sleeping space.
