Classically styled, new mid-century furniture focuses on elegant finishes and contemporary fabrics.
Although modern mid-century furniture has been a style favorite for many decades, its clean lines have left many of the younger buyers cold. That’s about to change. DwellStudio has updated some of the classic mid-2oth century shapes for a new collection. It’s Dwell’s first collection of furnishings for Precedent (a division of Sherrill Furniture), featuring posh finishes and snazzy fabrics that take the lines of now classic furniture in new directions. It also means that mid-century style is available with a higher-than-vintage level of options and finishes normally available. The Mallory chair [above], with its exaggerated wing, can be upholstered in any DwellStudio fabric. The trio of occasional tables [below] is only a taste of the line which was inspired by French, German and American designs.
As a design house and furniture source, Dwell was founded in 2000 as a textile house primarily, by Christiane Lemieux. Within seven years it had expanded into a full scale furniture retailer catering primarily to young families who are fans of modern design. The company’s flagship store is located in New York City’s Soho.

Love the chairs…Sharp looking, but appear comfy, too. They look like they could fit into a number of room styles to me.
Love the lines on the tables…but the gold finish, not so much.
I am a big Dwell Studio fan, this is exciting news!
I really like those chairs. The fabric pattern is brilliant. I’d expect the cut of those chairs to otherwise be a florid green. 🙂
