In a cozy bed alcove, well planned details come together to create a restful sanctuary.
Rainy days make me want to stay in bed, but this cozy bed alcove would be hard to leave on any given day. Details of this tiny room were well thought out. Soft butter color paneling envelopes the room and niche, including the ceilings of both. Even the ceiling fan motor housing appears to be painted, allowing it to fade away. Plenty of fluffy pillows and a snug comforter are an invitation to unwind. Instead of storage, this base conceals a trundle bed, perfect for extra overnight guests. A pair of casement windows lets in fresh air and natural lighting, but gives way to low lighting at night. Touches of blue and the red books are all that keep the space from becoming monochromatic, which creates a calming effect. A Gothic faux bois mirror hangs over the ornate carved desk. An upholstered chair and small tufted ottoman offers another spot to relax. The double doors open onto the porch, but wouldn’t they make a handsome pair of mirror backed closet doors. This lovely room offers many ideas that can be borrowed upon for your own rainy day escape.
