Something of a glass box, this unique china room sparkles as sunlight enters through walls of windows.
11 Bonita, formerly known as the Salie House, is a magically renovated home where no detail was overlooked and every turn takes your breath away. The rear entrance from the driveway is no exception. One of the owners, who is also a designer, requested a large closet to house his collection of dishes and glassware. Instead, architect Louis Nequette, delivered a jewel in the home’s addition — a china room.
In the daytime, the best views are from inside. At night, the room glows when viewed from the courtyard. The area also serves as a passage way to the downstairs media room and wine cellar; note the wrought iron railing at the staircase in the top photo, and below.
The same custom terra cotta tiles used for the kitchen, which features an 18-foot island and a Lacanche range kitchen, are repeated on the china room floor — also in the foyer. It’s a detail that unifies the spaces.
The homeowner has chic black crystal which he has used at parties for years. Now it is openly and pleasurably displayed. This home is truly the crown jewel of the neighborhood.
