This seafoam blue island is built like a deep table with plumbing for a prep sink shielded by the legs
The heart of this white kitchen is the seafoam blue island-on-legs which helps maximizes the look of the central space since it doesn’t sit solidly on the floor. A different counter material on each end helps break up the island visually. The small prep sink is set under a stone slab while wood covers the remainder of the work and serving surface — all illuminated by handsome pendants. Sink plumbing on such an island is always though-the-floor and exposed (though in this case well hidden).
Across the aisle, the main farm sink is sheltered by a raised ledge which provides some dish storage while keeping most of the kitchen open to the adjacent room and views. A dishwasher flanks each side of the sink and the entire work area is well lit with surface-mounted ceiling fixtures. On either side of the pass-through, attractive cabinets with glass on three sides function like display cases and keep light coming into the kitchen as well.
One end of the kitchen houses a built in refrigerator freezer while the adjacent wall features microwave, with a 48-inch pro-style range in the center. Note the telltale furniture baseboard on the cabinets. The absence of a toe-kick indicates a custom design.
