A master bath retreat enhanced with a tile bathroom rug and other elegant details.
A tile bathroom rug in this bathroom-dressing room area is an elaborate floor treatment with two variations. Both have the same center medallion, but the field and borders are different. Both add style without the maintenance required of a traditional rug. Tile rugs like this are made of mosaics and set into field tile. While the border motifs and circular medallions are similar, these two rugs are variations on a theme. Designer Mary Anne Smiley created furnishings to complement the “carpets” and make the bathroom comfortable. The “hallway rug” [top] has a cartouche framing the center medallion and inset with large-scale field tile. Between the cartouche and the decorative border of two-tone green leaves are 1-inch variegated mosaic tiles. But the field tiles coordinate with the remainder of the bathroom floor.
A second “rug” also has the cartouche around the medallion. Very small scale tiles inside the cartouche give it a more solid look and the contrasting border is white and thicker. Additionally there’s an exterior frame with green accents. The floors are elaborate and coordinate well with the upholstered chairs.
Double doors lead to the walk-in dressing area, blinged out with a crystal chandelier. This view shows the large-scale tile on the floor in the hallway together with a corner of the first tile bathroom rug.
