A double bowl farm sink, with plain front, has long been used in English kitchens.
A double bowl farm sink in a bespoke Clive Christian English sink cabinet shows how the Victorian kitchen style is still interpreted. Clive’s yellow cabinet has historically accurate styling and elaborate furniture details which work well with a fireclay double bowl farm sink. This sink has an unembellished apron — meaning that the front of it is plain. Nearly flush with the cabinet front the sink is not pulled as far forward as my Upmounted Farm Sink though the sink cabinet is bumped out. Cabinets are the point of a Clive Christian kitchen. Clive’s lush wood counters are made from tightly joined-and-sealed African hardwood flooring strips. Note the raised edge “tray” edge on three sides (technically called a vertical gallery rail) added to sit flush against the marble counter on each side with no unsightly seams. The satin-nickel bridge faucet, deck-mounted on offset legs, is by Rohl. A Delft-style tile backsplash would be a traditional choice for a classic, late 19th century Victorian-era kitchen look.
Double bowl farm sinks are made by many manufacturers including Rohl/Shaw’s, Kohler, Barclay and others. They can be fireclay or vitreous china and double bowl farm sinks can be evenly divided or have bowls of two different sizes.
