It sounds odd to say this neutral wood kitchen reminds me of a cushy sofa — but it does.
Like a basic sectional, this kitchen looks comfortable and practical – medium-tone neutral wood cabinets with squared staple handles and frosted glass doors flanking the window. And like a sectional, the clean lines and square elements help keep it modern. The range wall boasts classic stainless steel counters with an integral sink — a feature that guarantees easy clean up and durability. The modern lines of the kitchen — with the flat, slab-front cabinets — help keep it looking fresh and streamlined. I do the pale plate glass backsplash a trifle plain — it’s a bit difficult to see in a photograph.
The range wall is complex and bucks the traditional work triangle though the sink to stove configuration is often seen in Europe. With the sink centered under the window, the range is off center. Placing the chimney hood between two solid-door cabinets helps keep it integrated so the focus stays on the window. The small island, topped by cream-colored stone, lines up nicely with the sink — a hallmark of a professional kitchen designer. With no accent color, no window valance – nothing to detract from the “green” aura and simple lines this kitchen remains functional and classic.
