Looking at these luxurious master baths with special features I regret my caution six years ago when we we renovated our master bathroom. I thought about eliminating a closet to enlarge the bath even further. I didn’t and I regret the decision. How great it would be to have a towel waiting on a handy table or some comfy seating.
Our needs and ideas evolve over time and the master bath is an notoriously difficult space to change. While it isn’t always possible to install a super-luxe fireplace or steam shower, these baths offer some unique ways to use furniture and shelving to enhance the style and function of what, for most of us, is a very personal place.
His and Her Master Bath with Antique Furniture & Runner – I’m going to overlook the two-tone marble floor, French doors opening onto a patio and the elegant antique-style lantern chandelier and get right to the difference that California design meister Michael S. Smith made here: this master bath is furnished like a foyer. A circular antique hall table sits in the center while an antique chest is placed in the ample space between the Mr.-and-Mrs. pedestal sinks. An Oriental runner — lovely in any room — adds wonderful traditional color to the floor plus warmth underfoot. In the foreground, catch a corner of a Gustavian armoire.
