Small Rugs Go Everywhere

small rugs - red prayer rug with vintage Saarinen tulip table and Eames chairs from Coburn Architecture - via AtticmagSmall rugs are adaptable for multi-room use and often add a final touch to a room’s decor.

On occasion I notice the stylist for the photo shoot has used the same small rugs in more than one setting.  Such was the case with the rug in a home by Coburn Architecture.  I instantly zeroed in on the earthy reds and mustard yellows in an antique prayer rug. I have seen prayer rugs like this one in person many times, but parked near a vintage Saarinen Tulip table and Eames chairs, it looked particularly striking. I saved the picture with a mental note: “great pairing of antique and modern.”

Their could have been easily paired just in this room.

What all these photos illustrate is how adaptable small rugs are and how color enlivens neutral rooms.  Not only are small rugs easy to move about, but they often add the final touch to a room’s decor.   I think of these as go-to rugs — little embellishments that complete a room.

I just think rugs are amazing. Great entry, this brings up so many important points, the main one being how versatile small rugs are. I mean common! How easy is it to transform a space with a simple small rug! Put it on the floor, on the wall, slung over a chair or couch. Great places to look out for – we saw a tremendous selection of small rugs from Peter Paps selection, they were fantastic. Another very good resource was http://oldnewhouse.com – very cool selection. Fantastic entry, thank you for sharing, really.
