Individually crafted lighting and furniture.
A question often asked in the decorating world is how to use modern home decor to make a house unique. Easy answer: don’t buy mass produced items. For fun and funky furniture and lighting, onefortythree offers handcrafted pieces such as the enamel painted industrial wall sconces [above] and molded plywood Roxy rocker [below] in rich walnut.
Each item on the website — which focuses specifically on colorful lighting, furniture and accessories — is made, one at a time, by John Hammond who started the business by necessity. He and his wife needed new furniture and lighting after moving into their new Nevada home (address 143, hence the name), so Hammond began making his own. Once family and friends started asking for pieces, onefortythree was born.
A young Hammond had learned woodworking from his father, but is self taught in welding, upholstery and plywood molding. Hammond pushes himself to try new techniques and stands behind his workmanship. Shop onefortythree for individually crafted original lighting and furniture, and newer items such as iPad stands, various wall hooks, desk organizer and magazine rack. For the musicians, be sure to check out the guitar stand and wall hook. There is even a modern powder coated steel tissue roll holder available in five color choices. Since all items are made by hand lead times on average are minimal considering the quality. The uniqueness factor alone is worth any waiting. Inventory is always changing, improving and growing, so it’s best to check back often.
