The savvy design of a spice cabinet places it behind an art-covered door.
This has got to be one of the most clever ideas I’ve seen in kitchen design. A hand-painted canvas is wrapped around a hinged door. The door covers shelves used as a spice cabinet. The pair of paintings in this kitchen have a food theme in colors that coordinate subtly with the neutral white, cream and black color scheme of the kitchen. From a distance it’s impossible to tell that the bottom painting is a functional door since the spice cabinet shelves are recessed in the horizontal wood-plank walls. The shelves are conveniently located near the range and, when closed, disappear into the woodwork [below].
