A risky decision to create a mammoth mirrored wall pays off as a dramatic design.
Missing the windows in her previous loft, interior stylist Amy Beth Cupp Dragoo decided to create her own reality by adding a mirrored wall in her Soho loft. The wall mimics the grid proportions of the large windows which are standard loft features. Dragoo started by painting the wall black. Then, with the help of her husband, a laser level and mirror mastic, she hung 48 small mirrors. You read that right: 48 frame less mirrors she had cut to spec at a local shop. The end result is nothing short of spectacular. A pair of vintage black leather and chrome chairs and modern floor lamp will never block “the view” and the huge wall reflects light from the opposite side of the room. The white Chesterfield sofa, Ochre Rectangular Moon table and soft hued Oushak carpet seemingly float above the dark high contrast floor. Another strong focal point is the vintage French poster collection, yet it doesn’t detract from the mirrored wall. Dragoo’s idea could have turned out not-so-chic, Instead the mirrored wall visually doubles the space and produces a stunning effect.
