Historic fabric patterns inspire new forms for objects based iconic Fortuny décor.
The story of Mariano Fortuny is well-known in the fashion and design world. The Spanish born fashion designer developed fabric designs used for his haute couture and for interiors. While Fortuny died in 1949, a museum was established in his palazzo in Venice. In addition to fabrics, Fortuny was known for his lighting. The house of Fortuny continues with a varied product line that also includes furniture. Now, thanks to designer Elad Yifrach, these historic motifs also grace Fortuny décor — including dinnerware, flatware and home accessories. The American luxury tabletop company L’Objet has launched a collection of striking Fortuny dinnerware that is nothing short of luxurious. Platters, cocktail picks and assorted plates and bowls are only part of the luxurious dinnerware line. Fabric- covered boxes with metal details ,and scented candles in a silk pleat wrapped vessel are other Fortuny-inspired items everyone can enjoy.
