Rustic bathroom ideas include an enchanting tub alcove with an unexpected twist.
Once you notice an interesting material used indoors, you start seeing it everywhere. Such is the case this week for me and corrugated tin. When I looked at this photo, which has several rustic bathroom ideas, with I couldn’t quite make sense of the potted plant and how the wall seemed to be hovering over the floor until I researched. This charming tub vignette is in Lantliv i Norregård, a Swedish shop. Its alluring features could easily be recreated for real life.
The soft grey and cream painted checkerboard floor is the perfect starting point. But what drew me in was the repurposed, and aged to perfection, corrugated metal used on the wall for splash prevention. A double handle wall mount faucet is installed over the tin. Flowers and candles float thanks to a wooden tub caddy. A more recent photograph on the owner’s blog shows a vintage washboard in its place — another interesting idea. Aged beams and flaky painted windows add more patina and character, while the fresh linens add another texture and lightness. There’s no doubt the zinc tub whispers as customers stroll past.
