Bohemian design is usually associated with creative souls, free-spirited style and unique personalities. It is a mix of fabrics and patterns layered with rich, warm colors. Varying degrees of boho bedroom style can be found. It’s always offbeat and this first bedroom [top] is the softest of the group. Pale gray walls create a calm backdrop for the vivid headboard and bedding. The bed is a good starting point for the subsequent layers of boho chic design. This look can easily be started by throwing a bold color blanket or scarf over an existing headboard. The furry pillow is paired with a pink ikat with pom pom trim and an orange suzani pillow. The pink and orange throw adds another layer.
A geometric background adds a lot of stimulation and this Anna Spiro Round and Round the Garden wallpaper is busy. To keep the bedroom from feeling cluttered, the deep blue is repeated as a solid in the camelback shaped headboard. Repeating colors helps keep things cohesive. Again, a white coverlet or duvet was used as the foundation, and the crisp non-color gives the eye a place to rest. Otherwise, a palette of intense colors is found in the liberal use of pillow fabrics and the suzani folded across the foot. The wood bedside table represents the combination of new and vintage found in boho style decorating.
Some would find this room too busy to be restful. Lots of color and character make it an original with definite individuality. Against the same Anna Spiro Round and Round the Garden wallpaper, suzani fabric was used on the headboard. The bed is finished with a pair of tone-on-tone vintage pink embroidered pillows and a zigzag pattern pillow plus a cottage floral coverlet. While the coverlet might seem like an odd choice with the suzani fabric headboard, modern boho decor is just that — the freedom to personalize with color and pattern, blending cultures into a one-of-a-kind interior.
