A tropical setting encourages open air bathing.
Architect Valentina Audrito designed her tropical home to bring the outdoors in and the indoors out. So why should she stop with the master bath? The Balinese location begged for an outdoor soaking tub and Audrito delivered an exquisite open air space. The custom, egg-shaped bathtub is perfect for a long open-air soak. Framed mirrors on the enclosed courtyard walls replicate windows with their reflected views.
Just inside the bath cement floor tiles, which are often used in the tropics, add color and pattern. Strings of capiz shells, en masse, cover the ceiling. Contemporary design is in Audrito’s bloodline — her father, designer Franco Audrito, created such cult objects such as the lipstick-red Bocca lips sofa in the early 1970’s for Studio 65.
