At this season, we call Halloween home decor with slightly creepy effects “spooktacular” design.
Many have a soft spot for owls, including myself. My mother decided “Al” (short for Allison) was close enough to “owl,” so I received many owl-theme related gifts as a child. While I cannot find the backstory on this particular owl art, it appears to be a modern day version of vintage painted building advertising. (Owl Cigar ads featured a small moon and a different owl.) No matter, as it’s a fun — dare I say a hoot? — in this loft bath.
This photograph is an ad by SICIS, an Italian art mosaic factory – and the tile is absolutely gorgeous. Is it just me, or does the concrete tub resemble a coffin? Sunlight streaming through the the large windows and bare trees add to the overall Legend of Sleepy Hollow effect.
A couple’s love of nature led to their search for an artisan to recreate a Live Oak tree in their living room. Its branches appear to crawl across the wall and feature a few creatures for comfort. The artwork was carved from Buckeye wood, then colored with water dyes.
The snake [above] was realistic enough to scare birds away from the outdoor feeder for a few days. All of these are original designs that excite the imagination any time of the year but especially when the ghost and goblins are in season.
