Simple details change a space in a unique cottage laundry room with a surprising location.
Were it not missing a window, one would never suspect this cottage laundry room was located in a basement. Selecting the perfect perk-me-up color, based on Devine paint color’s “Steamer,” homeowner Beth Schaleben took steps to create a mood for the space that she had seen in a magazine. The skirted wooden counter would receive all the ‘oohs and aahs,’ were it not for the vintage fabric bleach sign discovered in a fellow junker’s stash. It’s a fantastic piece of wall art that adds color and off-the-chart personality in the compact room.
Schaleben used an ebony stain on the new pine counter to craft a mocha appearance. The burlap fabric skirt provides a rustic cover for ample storage below. A tough-looking commercial pull down spray faucet is just the ticket for working on stubborn stains. On the far left, we can spot part of a galvanized bin repurposed to hold cleaning supplies. The painted plank ceiling with a milky-white cased glass pendant, striped rug, and metal stool add even more cottage charm.
