Bathroom murals are perfect for those who like large-scale pattern or a decorative fantasy walls.
Consider the fantasy aspect of a bathroom mural. The verdant country lane photo mural adds great color, an indoor-outdoor feeling plus the strong perspective of the road. Visually, it enlarges the bath and provides a stunning backdrop for a modernistic freestanding tub. Bathroom murals are not for everyone. I can understand how an oversized image of a verdant allée [top] might look to someone half asleep in the middle of the night. But creating a special atmosphere in the bathroom — something that’s decidedly non traditional — puts the owner’s unique stamp on a home.
A far more lavish Carrara marble bath has a mirrored wall that reflects an amazingly graphic Bisazza Endimione tile mural. Bisazza specializes in price-is-no-object wall mosaic treatments which are, of course, made from tiny tiles and permanently fixed. This one, designed by Italian architect Carlo Dal Bianco, is one of a glass tile portrait series. And tile can be permanent – as Dal Bianco, whose work centers on the restoration of ancient palaces and building well knows.
