The industrial look is in full gear, making it easier to find and buy vintage retro office décor
A McDowell Craig steel tanker has an elegant blue semi-gloss powder coat finish. Sounds like we’re discussing cars, but we’re talking about a desk that qualifies as retro office décor. The steel desk is built like a tank and meant to last. REHAB Vintage Interiors specializes in retro desks and office furnishings. The industrial style is perfect for home too, whether it’s slipping a piece in here and there or decorating an entire room. I checked out that snazzy red Domore chair pulled up to the desk. It is a 1980’s version of a 30’s design and a rare find, so it was snapped up quickly. But there is always plenty to choose from as the Los Angeles store takes pride in restoring the mid-century steel pieces.
REHAB usually has a variety of vintage letters — metal, enamel, aluminum and porcelain, even neon channel. People like to use those as wall art and with good reason. These 1960’s porcelain enamel letters were a lucky find and their white color gives them a universal appeal. The store also carries steel basket gym lockers, bouclé wire baskets, vintage maps and globes — including sharp looking silver ocean globes.
They also restore vintage lighting. Plus there’s a vintage lighting inventory that includes pendant, desk, floor and table lamps. I love the bell-shaped shades and interesting shape of this 1950’s chrome pair. Anyone in the L.A. area, be sure to stop and browse. Until then, shopping online or calling with a specific need may be fruitful. Many items can be color customized and it never hurts to get a jump start on an item just as it’s listed online.

What a timely post Allison…I recognized the desk right off because someone has the same style (c.1950’s) in gray offered for free on our community freecycle. The refinished color you posted really takes it to another dimension.
You should snap that up, JaneT!
love that blue desk!
Allison, after seeing this post and the price of that desk, believe me I was tempted!
The color makes it, Jessica – wouldn’t it make working fun?
Thanks for the covering us! Looks great!!
