Double doors conceal a shower so this bath in disguise appears to be a powder room.
Some ideas are sheer genius, and in this case the bath in disguise idea was the brainchild of Alabama architect Craig Roberts. In the planning stages of our Alabama Stone Cottage, we altered the floor plan so that the main level guest bathroom would become a powder room, and gave the guest bedroom a private bath. I simply wanted a pretty powder room for visitors. Then last year I ran across this shower in disguise – it is carefully tucked away behind a pair of doors in the powder room. Guests will assume it is only a linen closet. A hinged glass shower door allows the door to slide out of the way, handy when showering with the wooden doors closed. A good exhaust fan will take care of any moisture. This idea could really be used in any bathroom to create a more private bathing area… and had it been in print five years earlier, I would have one less toilet to clean.

Love this idea! What a great use of space for a first floor bath since most of the time you’d just need the powder room. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE this. Our only bath on the main floor is a full bath, for guests and in case someone broke an ankle or something and couldn’t do stairs. But I would’ve liked to make it look more powder-roomish and elegant. Never thought of something like this!
I love it too. Just brilliant. And love the black and white not only on the floor. It’s a great use of tile.
