Blue and white Portuguese tile is the focus in this master bath retreat.
Los Angeles interior designer Joe Nye based this luxurious master bath design on the lavish use of hand-painted Portuguese tile installed by the former owner’s decorator. The wainscoting consists of glazed tile from Lascaux. The wall treatment is finished with a solid blue border tile added to the top and bottom. The tile is aptly named Blue Flower. An empire tub is paired with a reproduction Edwardian style floor-mounted tub filler with handheld shower. Sunlight streams through a pair of stained wood casement windows topped with a simple roman shade. A pair of sconces provides soft lighting for evening baths. Complimentary blue and white striped linen from Rogers & Goffigon was chosen to slipcover a basic Parsons chair from Pottery Barn. This is one of my all-time favorite baths. The combination of uncomplicated details enhance the senses rather than overwhelm.
