A wall of trees helps to screen off a combination outdoor kitchen and family room [top] set on a limestone tile terrace. The outdoor Viking range and grill amp up easy entertaining and the Kohler sink and faucet are handy helpers. Restoration Hardware furniture in the seating area picks up the color of a sunset and, centered around a fire pit, provides a perfect place to enjoy a good bottle of wine on a balmy night.
Dramatic and modern, this Poliform kitchen plays the rich darkness of Varenna wenge-wood cabinets against a slick white concrete floor and white marble counter tops. The kitchen boasts a pro-style Viking range and two additional wall ovens plus full-size refrigerator and freezer units concealed behind wenge panels and a serious wine fridge.
A vintage Spanish-style table and chairs sets off the all-white kitchen in this Spanish Colonial Revival house. Beams in the vaulted ceiling were painted white to keep the focus on the handsome pair of light fixtures with inverted, whip-stitched shades mounted on the beam. Behind them, and perfectly lined up, is a trapezoidal range hood with Viking vent over a Viking gas range. White cabinets and subway tile harmonize with golden tones in the white Calacatta D’oro marble that pick up highlights in the wood.
This traditional oak Mission-style kitchen has ample space for cooking and dining. The sink window offers a spectacular view and wonderful natural light while the perimeter features ample storage with double-tier soffit cabinets.
Details can be deceiving. A new black-and-white galley kitchen looks a bit generic when just the mid-section with a pro-style range flanked by open storage shelves is shown. But the island is nearly 18-feet long island and the kitchen occupies one wall of a great room with a very different impact.
A wider view, shows how the black-and-white scheme is warmed by neutrals and brightened a shot of pale blue – a clear reference to über-fashionable Belgian kitchens. At least le style Belge, which has been working its way around the blogs for the last year or so, finally found a concrete expression on this side of the pond.
