Think of this unique floor sink as a free-standing shower base — and more.
What could be more functional in a mud room, utility room, porch or pet-care area than a floor sink? Yet I’ve seen very few of these actually installed in homes. What a shame. Suitable for tiling in, the shallow cast-iron enameled Kohler Oceanvew utility sink (48- x 25- x 6-3/8-inches) can be installed in the floor to bath feet, children or pets or to water plants. With an integral ridge it also takes a pair of wooden slats that create a flat surface which functions like a drain board. Hellloooo! With enough space on one end, this sink could take a very tall deck mounted kitchen faucet with a sprayer though any faucet mounted within 16 inches of the floor requires bending over to operate. Alternately, a wall mounted faucet with remote sprayer might be more accessible since the controls could be high and the remote shower head mounted lower. It depends on the owners needs and usage. Kohler opted to show a retro style kitchen with integral soap dish. If there’s space in a kitchen, mud room or on a porch (and budget permits) this could be the best — and most unusual — sink in the house!
