A big kitchen with a fabulous La Cornue range also has great custom features
La Cornue’s Le Chateau 147 range is the centerpiece of a 650-square foot kitchen in a Chicago suburb designed by top kitchen guru Mick De Giulio. A stainless niche with the Chicago Faucet potfiller frames space behind the range. There are teak counters and a backsplash of calacatta marble above a low row of green tiles fashioned into handy shelves. Over the range, a flat hood is topped by divided display shelves that house copper utensils topped off by soffit cabinets. De Giulio’s focused detailing also extends to to the white Somerset base cabinets, which have bin pulls and ogee furniture feet.
A decorative marble arch under the window serves as a backsplash for a stainless apron front sink and deck-mounted Waterworks bridge faucet. The antique pot rack over the stained-pine island coordinates with the Rosle utensil rail, from Sur La Table, in the niche. The size of the kitchen permitted seating for four at the island and left room for an adjacent dining table.
