Vintage Windmill Wheel as Decor

vintage windmill wheel hanging on wallThese icons of Americana are being repurposed as wall art by those that admire.

I lost a picture of a windmill used as a wall hanging when my previous laptop stopped working, but I’ve never lost my desire to own one.  They are becoming a rare site when driving across the country, so if they pull at your heartstrings too, better snap it up when you run across one for sale.  This sculptural beauty was placed over a hallway table, out of harms way for her sons.

vintage windmill wheelIn all my years of browsing antique and consignment shops I’ve never seen a wheel for sale.  This ginormous “mill” (as collectors call them) is almost eleven feet in diameter and nearly 200 pounds.  The small garden version in the foreground doesn’t compare.

My mill is finally on the wall of my new house! In spite of the fact that the great room was designed around it, the mill was the last item of decor to be put into place. It’s 8′ with a 4′ tail. I’ll be posting about it this week on my blog if you care to take a peek at it. Thanks for showing us other mill decor photos. There’s not many of us fanatics out there!

Hi Mashi. Google is your friend. Also check Craig’s List and local sources – flea markets, antique stores, consignment shops.

          Thanks for stopping by, Allison
