Hip Eco-Friendly Rockers

eco-friendly modern pant rocking chair by Shiner International via AtticmagModern eco-friendly design blends functionality with the comfort and beauty of rocking chairs.

It’s long been proven that a rocking motion brings health benefits — your breathing slows, blood pressure falls and a pleasure center in the brain is stimulated. That’s why everyone adores rocking chairs like the Pant Rocker (above) whether they are designed for grown ups or the kid in everyone. Originally rocking chairs were crafted from chairs with legs that had curved wooden bands attached to the bottom.

Craftsman Joe Manus, for Shiner International, and his team of artisans begin these designs by upcycling materials destined for the landfill or incinerator — making them sustainable.  Pine, oak, walnut or calico wood is paired with a blackened or brushed carbon steel frame that moves by design, or can be frozen in any position with rubber stops. The steel rockers are brought full circle in these designs and give the Mood Rocking Bed has a special architectural quality and the looks of a future heirloom piece.

Oh my gosh, I LOVE that bed! I can think of times I wouldn’t want it to rock…Nausea and rocking, not a good combo. But it looks so fantastic. The chair looks like it might be comfy, too. Dh is set on building rocking chairs. I’ll have to show him this one.

Rhome, I love to rock, glide and swing myself but wondered about inner ear issues with the bed. I’d still love to give it a try. Love the shape of the chair. The set shape suggest hours of rocking comfort.

I would love to have a bed like that and put it out by the water, so much cooler than a hammock! I guess trying to bring in the mattress every time it rained might be a pain though!

    Kat :)
