Small Rugs Go Everywhere

On occasion I notice the stylist for the photo shoot has used the same rug in more than one setting.  Such was the case with the rug in a home by Coburn Architecture.  I instantly zeroed in on the antique prayer rug with its earthy reds and mustard yellows. I have seen prayer rugs like this one in person many times, but parked near a vintage Saarinen Tulip table and Eames chairs, it looked particularly striking. I saved the picture with a mental note: “great pairing of antique and modern.”

What all these photos illustrate is how adaptable small rugs are.  Not only are they easy to move about, but they often add the final touch to a room’s decor.   I think of these as go-to rugs — little embellishments that complete a room.
