Add color to outdoor water features each season
Consider water your canvas and create a formal mood for your event by displaying elaborate designs. Or keep it casual with a few simple petals tossed randomly on the water. I find floating flowers so beautiful and calming that I keep a birdbath filled throughout summer with flowers from my garden.
The rustic fountain at an estate in Majorca, Spain has ample room for dozens of blooms. The strong colors and generous size of the flowers keep them visible against the heavy stone structure. A gentle flow of water keeps the blossoms bobbing on the water.
An artful kaleidoscope style arrangement using color coordinated flowers repeated in a circular design. Notice too the size of the petals becomes smaller as they near the center.
An elaborate sunburst pattern in this rustic metal vessel is achieved by using blossoms in specific colors and sizes. An inner ring of green leaves adds contrast and pulls the eye towards the center.
A few random petals float in this footbath-turned-mini pond. Sunlight bounces off the water and casts a reflection of the blooms.
A smaller scale display attests to the fact that just about any type of shallow container can become a vessel for floating flowers.
