Glass-Top Table Designs
By Jane T ~ December 30th, 2009. Filed under: Décor.

When I was growing up, a friend of mine kept photos and special mementos slipped neatly beneath a piece of glass atop her clothes dresser. Being the ever curious person that I am, I was captivated at the little bits of her life so perfectly arranged under that glass.
I thought about that friend when I spied the sweet table [above] while catching up on our friend Karen Olivia’s (Alkemie) blog. A piece of wallpaper fitted beneath the glass livens up the top of this small side table just as my friend’s keepsakes adorned her dresser.

Pink and white floral wallpaper is used as a table runner on this dessert table. With so many wallpaper designs on the market today, the theme possibilities for a festive or special occasion table are endless. (Photo via Itsajaimething).

This glass-topped desk [above] is embellished with floral wallpaper, but could easily be transformed to a student desk by using maps, charts or diagrams in lieu of the blooms. (Photo via chictip).

Look to vintage gift wrapping paper like the examples [above] from Cavallini and Company for more inspiration.
If you’re feeling crafty, the two tables below use woven ribbons in place of paper to decorate beneath the glass tops. (Source: Kate Dickerson Design)

In our last home I had a round skirted table with a glass top. I randomly placed vintage postcards underneath. Currently, I have a wooden tray that I made a woven ribbon piece for my oldest (10+ years ago). Recently I added foreign currency underneath to give it more color and a different look.

Thank you for sharing the photo of the table with the wallpaper covering its top. I have a table very similar to the first photo in need of an update. I will be sharing my before and after when I’m finished. Happy New Year.

That first makes such a pretty picture … it harkens of a particular Thos Moser side table which, in its room setting, has always captivated me : (http://www.thosmoser.com/image.php?file_id=9518). Very sweet.
But table number 3 really really speaks to me. I adore white woods with linear grain – and that rift cut soaped white oak with the brown runner and glass looks so terribly efficient! Love it.
