Toddler-to-Kids’ Bedroom

Designer Robyn Karp turns the tot’s room [above] into a big-girl’s room [below] by swapping the toddler bed for a twin. Everything else remains unchanged.   A solid three-color palette of cotton-candy pink, apple green, and bright white afford the luxury of using a vibrant multi-colored floor covering like the one here from Stark.

The quilted polka-dot upholstered headboard and bed skirt are the only pattern in the room except for a subtle repeat of polka-dots on the framed mirror above the dresser and a toss pillow. We see a glimpse of a crystal chandy — so popular in girly-girl rooms and, of course, Ms. Karp’s signature sheepskin-covered pouf that appears in many of the spaces she designs.

DIY inspiration motifs (L-R):

Use a white and green polka-dot fabric to sew the bed skirt and upholster a headboard.

Faux-fur fabrics are available in many colors in addition to the white used to cover the pouf ottoman.

The designer room floor covering is “Candy Stripe” from Stark Carpets.  You can find similar styles at Dash and Albert or search for “striped cotton rugs” on the internet.

Adorable–those colors goes with my little girls room. I would love for you to feature everything we did in her room. We redid the dresser-someone had finger nail polish and majic marker all over the top, We made her mirror from scratch. I made all of her bedding, curtains etc. I also did her tea cup chadelier.
