Caviar20 is a new online boutique carrying unique 20th century furniture, objects and art.  The inventory, which includes the classic French entryway table with lion’s feet, is carefully selected by founder and Chief Curator Troy Seidman.  Services available include appraisals and design consultation.  Troy considers himself not only a 20th Century design dealer, but also an advisor as he has many clients for whom he does sourcing and advising.

Another focus at Caviar20 is reinventing.  As a former U.S Army Reserve band member, I was drawn to the vintage snare drum. With the addition of wooden legs and a plexiglass top (not shown) it has been converted to a side table. The braided cord and age-worn leather straps are in excellent condition. The goatskin top has   a wonderful patina due to use. Since it is still functional, purchase a pair of drum sticks or brushes and you can pursue a new hobby during commercials!

The shape of an American made mahogany shield mirror is worth a second look. Simply refinish the wood back to its former glory, or paint and glaze to suite your decor, as I did with a mahogany mirror (below) purchased locally for one of our guest bathrooms.  Remove the mirror prior to refinishing, so you don’t have to worry about breakage.

I asked Troy what was his favorite part of work and developing his new business -  “I love 20th century design (and art + antiques) and love promoting awareness, appreciation and collecting. Life is complicated, but living with beautiful things is easy, regardless of budget or aesthetic.” Caviar20 helps make it easier.
