Artful Chair Recycling

With Earth Day approaching later this month, it seems only natural to highlight a textile designer that gives a fresh, jazzy twist to the phrase “everything old is new again.” Using vintage chairs, replete with dings and dents purposely left intact, Blugirl Art founder Suzanne Meyer Pistorius adds a lively ‘wow’ factor with her custom designed hand painted fabrics. Add a colorful coat of glossy lacquer to the wood, a few embellishments to the fabric and you have a one of a kind piece of art.

Suzanne’s fabric designs (below) are also available for use on cushions, pillows and draperies. We think her energetic designs, have a vibrant flair that would transition splendidly to rugs. How about it Suzanne?

For those of you in the trade, she will be exhibiting her designs at the Printsource Textile Surface and Design Trade Show in New York on April 14 & 15.
