The Ferrari of all dishwashers -- which washes a full pots and pans load in 30 minutes – Miele’s $5500 G 7856 commercial unit may be the newest status symbol for the über high-end residential kitchen.

Citizens of planet Miele – like moi – who enjoy discussing detergent tabs vs. power balls, or Jet Dry vs. Somat rinse aid, would love to put one of our dinner party loads through this big mama and have it dry before we finish clearing the table.

Company marketers were talking it up at the AD Home show last week, touting the professional seven cycles (including china and crystal) hot and cold water hook up, and a 10-minute turnaround but only giving us a peek inside.

Clearly, they are hoping to sell the “pro com” to the Top Chef set and other high volume entertainers since it doesn’t take a cabinet panel, has no hidden controls and it has ordinary cutlery baskets taking up real estate on the bottom rack.

It’s all about the speed.
