This seductive cousin to a farm sink also works well in a laundry, utility or mudroom.
Technically this is a vitreous china utility or laundry sink in the old-fashioned WWII era style that includes an integral (or self) backsplash and wall-mounted faucet. Yet has many attributes of a farm sink, which makes it especially versatile plus it comes in two sizes. The combination of good looks, self-contained shape, and no counter top involvement in its installation are strong points. Counters simply sit under the exterior rim. The “Journey” pattern decorated version is the most elaborate choice — one that makes us drool.
This is definitely a “focal point” sinks and it comes in a variety of colors plus a steel-grey terrazzo material we spotted at a a Kitchen and Bath show.
Marketed with different faucets from retro bride to pot filler — and sometimes called a scrub-up, plaster- or laundry sink — these also can be found in good condition at salvage yards.
