In a Connecticut house the owner recreated the hand-rubbed patina of vintage cabinets in her former kitchen with custom cherry cabinets finished with Waterlox. The conservative style continues with a Walker Zanger Alhambra Paja off-white ceramic tile back splash which is just slightly less rustic than the WZ Andalusia Moorish Gold limestone floor tile.
While the kitchen is used often for entertaining the appliances are modest — the range top is by Viking and ovens, microwave and warming drawer by Thermidor. The main sink is Elkay stainless steel with a Delta faucet and dispenser.

The large island has interesting built ins such as the organic waste “slot,” a pull-out garbage bin, and integral knife rack. The prep sink and faucet are by Kohler and the cherry top matches the cabinets. (Photos: Mary O).
