Sending out a Mission vibe is easy when foursquare cabinets are splashed along the soffit area of a galley kitchen and the island is clad in repeated vertical panels. Curved brackets that support the island’s curved serving shelf soften up the lines.  The raised counter on the open side of the island functions as a visual block — a feature is often seen when a sink is in the island.

Cool bluish-gray cabinets keep the kitchen looking pulled together with a variation only on the end where two white cabinets lighten things up and signal the presence of an aisle.  Note the built-in refrigerator, also with panels but here’s an example of how an icemaker-in-the-door can make the panels look a trifle choppy.
